Amersham, a market town in the Chiltern countryside, has a wide distinctive High st, once filled with a dozen inns, six butchers, nine greengrocers. It is 26 miles from London and originally one day’s travel from London, until the roads improved. The Crown has inglenook fires, crooked floors, and a cobbled courtyard.
Only an hour from central London, at the end of the Metropolitan tube line, 40 minutes drive from Heathrow and wifi throughout.
